Our Poaching Problem

Did You Know that Poaching is a Contributing Factor to Climate Change?

The Maritime Executive What is Poaching?

Many people aren’t aware of what poaching is. I’ll tell you. Poaching is a very dangerous thing for all sorts of animals. Some people don’t realize it, but poaching is very life threatening (for animals at least). Anything can be hurt by poaching, but animals die from this tragedy everyday. Everyone says, if we try hard enough, this problem will go away, but we’ve tried all we can, yet nothing is happening.

This is Not the Only Thing We Should Be Worried About.

Unfortunately poaching is not the only thing we should be worried about. For instance there are turtles, dolphins, whales and many more animals that are dying because people are throwing straws around like there is no problem in the world. But really those straws go inside turtles' nostrils and they cannot breathe. Dolphins and whales get straws stuck in their spouts and so they eventually suffocate and sadly they die, but not all people know about that.

Many marine animals have become endangered because of poaching, over-fishing and setting dangerous experiments in the ocean. People of all different ages gather to kill certain animals without government permission. A way we can help this is by keeping up protests that people can join freely.

Are We Aware of It? What Charities Support This?

Are we all aware of the amount of trash that is being put into the ocean and hurting all of our ocean wildlife? If we were, the world we live in today would not be the way it is right now… People would understand what even a tiny piece of trash can do. An animal can die from a plastic bag they mistake for food, or even just something trapping them from getting above water to breathe.

What Action Can We Take?

We can help by:

-Not using straws. They cause really big problems for our ocean and for the animals, so when going to a restaurant, ask for no straws.

-You can also help by picking a day in the week to go to your local beach and clean up trash.

-If you see trash or even just a cigarette butt, pick it up and put it in the trash can (or if it can be recycled, put it in the recycling bin).
